Lisa Russell
Lisa Russell is the lead trainer for Healing Paws for Warriors, and she comes to us with an impressive training/qualification history.
Lisa has worked with dogs since the age of ten. In 1983, she completed her military service in the USAF as a Law Enforcement K-9 handler, returning to her hometown in Jacksonville, Florida.
Lisa is best known for her knowledge and her ability to evaluate canine behavior and teaching owners how to understand their dog’s behavior and get results through behavior modification and training.
In 1984, she opened Actions Dog Training. She has trained Drug and; Arson Dogs, as well as training dogs for assistance, service dog and therapy work. She’s also made appearances on local radio shows and written articles about dogs for local newspapers. Her trained dogs have made two appearances on the television show “America’s Most Wanted” and in several movies. Throughout her career, she has worked with many high-profile celebrities and their dogs.
In the year 2000, she opened the first cage-free dog day/night care and training facility in Northeast Florida. She is a Federal Expert Witness about Canine Detection. She became a UKC Nose Work judge in 2015, and an AKC Scent Work Expert judge in 2017. In 2019, she became the Department Manager for the American Kennel Club Scent Work program.
For over 40 years, Lisa has worked with thousands of dogs and their owners. She has dedicated her extra time to working with rescue groups and shelter dogs.
